About Yvonne
Hi, my name is Yvonne and I’d like to share my personal journey with yoga. In the past I have practiced various types of yoga from time to time without ever truly understanding its purpose or transformative power. Not until it became a means of salvation during a very difficult time in my life did the support and strength of yoga become clear.
About six years ago I began experiencing the most excruciating nerve pain I could have ever imagined and was eventually diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Having always led a very active life as a single mother, business owner and dancer; this news was confusing and extraordinarily depressing. None of the prescribed medications helped in any way. The next few years left me coping with acute debilitating pain, unbelievable fatigue and deep depression.
Through some miracle, a Viniyoga therapist entered my life and empowered me with the tools of yoga. This enabled me to shift the structural, neurological and emotional energy in my body; which in turn shifted the perception of my condition. Working with these tools I have learned to manage my thoughts, which has enabled me to manage my pain; resulting in a completely changed physical, neurological and emotional state.
After working with my yoga therapist for about a year I began to climb out of my debilitated state and realized I needed to make changes in my life. I decided to begin a four year program with the American Viniyoga Institute (AVI) in California, under the tutelage of Gary Kraftsow and his amazing staff. AVI is an IAYT (International Association of Yoga Therapists) certified yoga therapy school and a registered Yoga School with Yoga Alliance. AVI is dedicated to carrying on the tradition of Sri T. Krishnamacharya of Madras, India. 1000 hours of study has certified me as a 500 hour yoga teacher and 500 hour certified yoga therapist.
I love sharing these teachings in private and group classes, workshops with a specific theme and working individually on a therapeutic level. (See “How I can help”’ on this website)
A dedicated practice can change your life. I’m proof of that!

- Viniyoga links movement with the breath. This makes the practice more structurally integrated, mindful and powerful.
- Viniyoga adapts each practice to a student/clients’ ability and needs.
- Viniyoga eases the body into the postures through the breath with repetition and hold. This allows the student/client to experience the full benefit from each posture.
